What counts as Temple Service?

We have had many people ask what counts toward Temple Service...so here is a list of ideas.

Going to the Temple to do ordinance work
Any time put forth in organizing the Temple Open House
Time spent serving at the Open House
Sewing costumes for the Temple Celebration
Attending the Temple Celebration rehearsals as a leader
Doing family history and getting names temple ready

If you have any other questions about something that you may be doing, please talk to a member of the Presidency.  Thanks for all of you hard work and keep checking back to see our hour of service updated!

Sisters of Service

To all the Sister of the Prairie 13th ward Relief Society,

It is with great honor and excitement to introduce to you our Service Project for 2009.  Earlier this year we were asked by the Stake Relief Society to organize a service project for the sisters of our ward.  After much thought and prayer we have decided to dedicate our service project to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House and to ordinance work in the Jordan River Temple.

As many of you are aware, we have the wonderful opportunity to give of our time in assisting with the Temple Open House.  These assignments are going to take a great deal of sacrifice on our part.  We are all busy, but great blessings will come to those who take the time to serve.  As a Relief Society Presidency we have set the goal of 1000 hours of Temple Service.  Our project will start today and will run through August 11th.  There are many ways that you can accumulate hours.  Here are some ideas

o   Fulfilling assignments at the Temple Open House (each shift is 5 ½ hours)

o   Attending the Temple

o   Helping with the Temple Celebration for the Youth (Sewing costumes, attending practices etc)

To help our Relief Society reach our goals we will be organizing 2 shifts for each of our wards assigned days.  For each of these shifts we will need approximately 8 sisters.  This does not mean that you cannot serve at any other time; we would love for each of you to serve as much as you can.  We will also be organizing a couple of Endowment sessions over the next three months.  And lastly we would encourage each of you to set aside the 3rd Saturday of each month to attend our Ward Temple Night.  Please report all hours of service to Tiffany Tullis so that she can keep our hours of service up to date.   Our service project will end with our Quarterly Enrichment night on August 11.  Please mark this on your calendar and plan on attending.  This will be a wonderful night where we will be able to hear the experience that each one of you has had while serving the Lord.

We have been blessed to live in this valley where we are able to see 4 Temples.  Let us realize what a great blessing this is and take advantage of the blessings that will come as we come to the house of the Lord and serve him.  We will see increased blessings in our own lives, in the lives of our family members, and we will grow closer as Relief Society sisters.  With the commitment and sacrifice of each one of you, we will be able to achieve this goal

.  May the Lord bless yo

u as you dedicate the next three months to serving Him in His Holy House!

                                                Love the,

Prairie 13th ward Relief Society Presidency
